Data Transformation Engine — B2B Catalog Enrichment
Problem
Distributor product catalogs arrive messy — inconsistent naming, specs buried in product titles, missing attributes and categories — making thousands of HVAC and security SKUs hard to search, filter, and merchandise.
What I built
A rule-based data transformation engine with its own scripting DSL. Admins write reusable scripts that regex-extract specs into attributes, normalize names and units (e.g., fractions to decimals), auto-categorize and classify products, and generate SEO slugs — triggered on product save, during bulk CSV imports, or on demand across selected products.
Built the full stack solo: DSL interpreter, chunked queue processing (Laravel jobs, 500 products/batch), Backpack + Vue admin UI with a safe dry-run Test mode, and per-row error logging with one-click retry.
Outcome
Live on Allred's and Mountain West. Catalog teams clean and enrich entire product categories without developer involvement — supplying consistent attributes and categories that power faceted search and navigation across the platform.
